About the Artist

Welcome to DragonRise Studio! I’m the artist, Danielle Kukic. Working from Temperance, Michigan, I am a geeky artist trying to bring out what I love artistically. I work in almost every medium including: acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, pencil, sculpture and digital. And while I love fantasy/sci-fi art, I work well in pretty much every genre. My gallery includes photo-realism, comic book style, horror, fantasy, landscapes, still-life art and portraits.

For as long as I can remember, I have been doodling on everything from spare bits of paper, to homework (Some of my teachers weren’t too thrilled by this). I never had to worry about what I wanted to be when I grew up because I always knew I wanted to be an artist. Throughout college and after receiving my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Siena Heights University, I worked on various small illustrating projects and freelance work, and I’ve only expanded and grown in my craft since then. I now work as the solo artist creating Daughter of the Wolf comics with some of my best friends and I love every minute of it!

My favorite subjects are dragons and monsters because I have always loved drawing animals, muscular and skeletal structures and I feel I have the most variance when I make up my own. I started off doing photo-realistic art, and I try to apply what I’ve learned to build art using my imagination with monsters, landcsapes and scenes.

My hobbies include video games, sketching, martial arts, and reading. I think my favorite place in the world to be is inside a book. My favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, Patrick Rothfuss, and John Connolly. If I can leave reality for a little while and visit places like Middle-Earth, or Hogwarts then I am happy 🙂

I are always open for commissions so feel free to contact me for any details at: dragonrisestudio@yahoo.com
